MEP Design and Drafting Requirement for the Project
The client learned about IndiaCADworks (ICW) from the web. After learning about our experience in delivering MEP drafting, MEP clash detection, coordination, and BIM services, they contacted us for one of their high-value projects. The requirement was for MEP drafting of the air distribution system, which included the chilled water pipe design and drafting as well as the duct design. The project also involved the most feasible routing of the ducts based on the seating arrangements.
Key Project Challenges Handled by the IndiaCADworks Team
As the project was for huge seating space, along with the MEP design, another important aspect was to route the air distribution pipe keeping the aesthetic part of the interiors. Our MEP team also looked into this and routed the pipe in a way that it not only met the client’s requirements but also went well with the interior planning of the building.
Process Outline - MEP Drafting and Pipe Routing Plan
After having a few rounds of discussions with the client, our engineering team planned for a stepwise process to deliver the project within the agreed three weeks timeline. The process outline for the project was as follows:
- ICW’s MEP team received the AutoCAD drawings of the building design and markups in PDF form.
- A team of three engineers, including one MEP designer, one draftsman, and one QC lead assigned to work on this project.
- Based on the requirements and new changes suggested by the client in the form of markups, our team developed the pipe routing plan in AutoCAD 2021.
- The team also did the MEP drafting making use of the McQuay PipeSizer, McQuay DuctSizer software.
- Based on the client’s feedback, the final files were adjusted and sent.
